This Palia Elderwood Shot in the Dark Quest guide is here to help you with one of the main quests in Palia’s Elderwood story. After you finish “The Nature of Shadows,” you will need to look into the infected creatures in Elderwood. You will also learn how to get the Elderwood Arrow recipe, which lets you craft the special arrows needed to hunt infected creatures.

Shot in the Dark Quest Walkthrough

You start the Shot in the Dark Quest after finishing the Nature of Shadows story. Subira will send you to talk to Hassian, who knows the best way to hunt the infected creatures in Elderwood.

You will need to find Hassian in Kilima Valley and ask for his help. He will not just give you the answer right away. He wants you to collect some material first.

Things Hassian Needs and Where to Find Them

For the Arrow Body (one of each):

  • Soft Wood: Cut down soft wood trees. They are in the lower parts of Elderwood, close to the Central Stables area.
  • Heart Wood: Chop down older, bigger trees in the deeper parts of Elderwood. Look near Deep Woods or Honeymiel Slope.
  • Magic Wood: Find magic wood from special trees that glow. They are all over Elderwood, often near Lilac Cave or Red Blossom Cave.
  • Elder Wood: Get elder wood from the tallest, oldest trees in Elderwood. You can usually find them near Okanaa Bog or Mauvais Way.

For the Arrowhead (one of each):

  • Stone: Pick up stone from rocky places and small rocks around Elderwood. Check near the Fallen Water Road or rocky cliffs.
  • Flint: Find flint near rivers and shores, like around De Mer Dock or near the water in Elderwood.
  • Clay: Dig up clay from wet ground, often near Okanaa Bog or small lakes in Elderwood.
  • White Stone: White stone is a white rock you can find in caves or on cliffs, like close to Lilac Cave or the high areas of Elderwood.

Also Needed:

  • Infected Stuff: This shines on the ground all over Elderwood. Look near the infected animals or glowing flowers around Okanaa Bog and Deep Woods.

How to Craft Elderwood Arrows

When you give all the items to Hassian, he will reward you with the Elderwood Arrow recipe. These arrows are special and are the only way to hunt the infected creatures in Elderwood.

Hassian will give you 20x Elderwood Arrows and the recipe so you can make more later. You cannot hunt the infected creatures without these arrows.

How to Hunt the Infected Creatures and Complete Quest

Go to Okana Bog in Elderwood, where you will see infected creatures called Ogopuu. Use your Elderwood Arrows and get ready to hunt. You need to defeat 3x infected creatures and pick up at least 50x Infected Essence. Every time you beat an infected creature, you will get more Infected Essence.

After you hunt the creatures and gather enough Infected Essence, go back to Subira. She will take the samples and say she will send them to the lab.

This ends the Shot in the Dark Quest guide and opens more of the main story for you. You will also get rewards like Renown, friendship points with Subira, and the chance to hunt more infected creatures in Elderwood.

Quest Rewards

  • 25 Renown
  • 10 Friendship Points with Subira
  • Ability to hunt infected creatures in Elderwood
  • Elderwood Arrow recipe

That’s the end of the Palia Elderwood Shot in the Dark Quest guide. With the help of this guide, you will complete the quest without problems and get rewards like the Elderwood Arrow recipe.  If you want more tips, check out my guides on Palia Elderwood Little Bumble’s Pie Quest Guide and All 15 Hidden Chest Location in Palia Elderwood
