Dark Academia is a side quest in Destiny 2: Edge of Fate that opens up after you progress through the main story. When you follow the quest marker to Augur’s Bethel in the Exile’s Accord zone, you will come across a locked door blocking your path.
To move forward, you first need to unlock this door. In this guide, I’ll walk you through everything you need to do to open the door in the Dark Academia quest.
Where to Find Dark Academia Quest Unlock Door
You can find the locked door for the Dark Academia quest deep in the Exile’s Accord zone on Kepler, inside Augur’s Bethel.
To get there, fast travel to Curtilage Divide and follow your quest marker down the green tunnel. You’ll reach an area with fallen enemies and then see a door next to a generator and barrier. This is the door you need to open.
How to Unlock the Door in Dark Academia Quest
Look at the door’s top. You should see three dark and empty lights. Each one needs to light up, meaning you must destroy three hidden charges nearby.
You need to find three charges and destroy them to open the door. Here is where you find each one:
First Charge

The first charge is close to the door. Turn around, take the first left, cross a small bridge, and look under it. You will see a pipe with a blue charge. Shoot the charge to destroy it.
Second Charge

To find the second charge, you will need a special power called Mattermorph. Go to the back of the room and climb up a pipe next to a big round gear.
Walk on the pipes on the second floor and turn right at the end. Climb up a small pipe to find a big patch of spores and a Mattermorph hive. Pick up Mattermorph here.
Go back to a glowing green pipe nearby and use Mattermorph on it. This will move the pipe and let you see the second charge. Shoot it.
Third Charge

Finding the third charge gets much easier once you have Mattermorph. Pick up another use of Mattermorph if your timer is low, then head down to the train below the big pipes.
Look to the right side of the train, and you will spot a glowing panel on the wall. Use Mattermorph on this panel to open it up and reveal the last charge. Destroy the charge, then go back to the door.
Power Up The Generator

After destroying all charges, go back to the generator near the door. Use Matterspark to power up the generator, and when the door opens, go inside and interact with the object on the ground to begin the Ikora side quest.
After that, return to Dean Rebecca at the Caldera to get your rewards. You will earn a Tier 2 Kepler weapon and three Fated Ciphers.
Object Interaction Bug
If you can’t interact with the object or shrine in the Dark Academia quest, make sure you’ve finished the quest for the third zone and have 3 out of 4 Strangelet Capsules integrated.
After doing this and watching the dialogue from Ikora or Lodi, return to the quest area—you should now be able to pick up and scan the items needed to continue.
