On July 15, 2025, Destiny 2 launched its new expansion, The Edge of Fate, introducing lots of new things for players to do. Along with the main game, The Edge of Fate also gives you extra side quests to complete for more rewards. Fate Vessel of the Nine is one of these side quests. In this guide, I’ll show you how to finish the Fate Vessel of the Nine Side Quest in Destiny 2. Let’s get started!
How to Start the Vessel of the Nine Side Quest
The quest starts when you find Lodi’s journal on a table near the main area on Kepler. Pick it up to start. Sometimes the quest does not begin tracking by itself. If that happens, open your quest menu and select the quest to track it.
Lodi will call you and tell you strange things are happening to him. He talks about seeing himself doing the same thing twice. You will take on the job to help him and find out what is going on.
Clear Enemies and Unlock the Door
A marker will show you where to go next. You will arrive at a place where Vex and Fallen are fighting. Defeat all enemies in this area. Listen to Lodi’s talk while you fight. Once he finishes, the quest will ask you to “search for a signature that might show Lodi’s presence.“
Look for a locked door on the left side. Near this door, find a pile of dead Fallen enemies. Interact with the bodies to start connecting to the “dark matter source.” The door is locked with two power generators. Shoot both to open the door.

Clear The Corridors
Go through the next corridor and fight more enemies. As you travel, look for bodies beside crates and boxes and interact with them. If the quest tells you to look for slime, do not worry if you cannot see any—just focus on the bodies.
In the next area, you will find more enemies and a locked door. Take out all enemies first. Then, find the generators connected to the door by yellow wires. Shoot these generators to unlock the door, then go through it. Keep moving and don’t miss anything you can interact with to keep the quest going.
Reach the Crane and Find the Floating Symbol
In the last area, defeat all the enemies you find. Drop down to the lowest level and walk around the huge support in the middle. Look for more bodies you can interact with.
Check the back of the room for a crane holding a large engine. If you spot a floating symbol near the crane, that is where you need to go next.
Head to the broken wall panels on the left side at the back of the engine. Climb up using these panels, then jump over to the crane to get close to the floating symbol. Once you reach the crane, interact with the floating symbol to finish the quest.
Bugs You’ll Face In This Quest
- Quest marker might point to the wrong place, especially when you need to find the glowing symbol near the crane. Check the area carefully if this happens.
- Quest may not show up in your tracker. Open your quest menu and select it.
- “Slime” clues might not appear. Just look for bodies you can interact with.
